Photos: Malexander

In Sweden, if you ask someone what they know about the small community of Malexander, 99% of them will say: Not much, except for the murders there of two police men ten years ago.  (In my recent blog I wrote some reflections on this: In Memory of Robert and Olle).

Last week we visited Malexander, and I’m glad to say that we all got a completely different view of this place than that portrayed in media. There is a peaceful and joyeous feeling in this community. The people are friendly. The nature is beautiful. We just had a great time.

The Spele family. They are good friends from our neighborhood in Södertälje. We stayed at their summer home, getting plenty spoiled. We loved every minute. But wait! There is something wrong with this family photo. They only have four children? Ah, yes, there is Clara sneaking up in the middle. She wanted so bad to be in the photo, and when her mother tried to pull her away… well, just watch…

Mean Mommy…

But here she could be a part of her “own” family photo. This is at Pelarberget (Pillar Mountain), with one of its caves in the background.

Just want to make mention of this outhouse. Isn’t it the most beautiful outhouse you’ve ever seen? And let me tell you, it was as cosy as it looks. It was also well stacked with magazines and old Bible texts. It even had a fly swap and a window with a view. Perfect. I often went there to meditate, and to… well… next photo!

A girl on a swing.

Isak fishing with his friends Joar and Viggo on a perfect sommer evening. The same second ( I kid you not) that we started packing up to leave, Isak caught a cute abborre . He was dancing on clouds with joy. He had been waiting for that fish all night.

Clara never wanted to leave the water. And guess who she forced to swim with her all the time? But with that happy face, how could I resist?

I took a zillion photos. Here are few more. #gallery-4123-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-4123-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-4123-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-4123-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
